E12 Atlantica Transport

The project produced strategies and guidelines for cross-border transport planning and a sustainable development of the route and conducts pilot activities in cooperation with companies to highlight deficiencies and opportunities in the transport system.

Project description

The project tackled issues that have been raised in previous co-operation projects: a functional transport route, strategies for cross-border planning and future cooperation structures. Good knowledge of the transport system, transport demand and future placement of facilities was a fundamental pillar in effective, cross-border transport planning. The project drafted central strategies and guidelines for cross-border transport planning and the routes sustainable development. The basic purpose was to compile together the infrastructural planning processes of the three countries participating in the project as well as to coordinate the planning, use and maintenance of the infrastructures. A cross-border arena where the public sector, economic life and scientific world can meet, exchange experiences and create the foundation for new forms of collaboration was needed for the channeling of the know-how and cooperation of the economic life, innovations and the transport system.
