Vatten och Människan i Landskapet - VIMLA

The project increased understanding of the function of water ecosystems and draws through models attention to how even water flow, reduction of nutrients and reducing the injurious effects of acid sulfate soils affect water quality in small coastal waters

The project's long-term goal was to secure the availability of ecosystem services linked to small waters also in the future. Good water quality and natural flow, without violent floods, are basic conditions for a functioning water ecosystem. Acid sulfate soils occur widely in the Kvarken region and are a significant water quality-deteriorating factor.
